I recently bought a lot of fashion books, not only because they are so interesting to read, but also because they look so good in your interior. Here are my musthaves:

Yesterday I have purchased my first midi skirt, I was always doubting whether to get one or not, because I'm not so tall. But now I'm finally the proud owner of a gorgeous midi skirt. The problem with a midi skirt that a lot of girls have is: with what should I combine it? That's why I have listed the possibilities: get inspired!

Until 4 years ago, I always wore contacts, but then I bought a pair of glasses, and I have been using glasses instead of contacts for 4 years now.

Glasses were suddenly a fashion accessory, and there were so many new and hip models.

Before that switch there were some fashionable glasses, but not as many as there are now.

Every brand has it's own glasses and sunglasses line now, and they put a lot of effort in their designs.

That's the big difference between now and five years ago.

And because I wear glasses, I decided to spend a whole week (okay, 5 days) dedicated to glasses!

I'm crushing on this collection, I love the colors, cuts and silhouettes.
Everything just matches, it makes such technical dresses and silhouettes look calm.
I'd love to wear every single piece from this collection.
Ik ben echt verliefd op deze collectie, ik hou van de kleuren, de snits en de silhouetten.
Alles past bij elkaar, dit zorgt ervoor dat zo'n technische kleedjes en silhouetten toch rustig ogen.
Ik zou echt elk stuk uit deze collectie willen dragen.

After their show Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos explained that this time the key figure the ceramist Ken Price was.
Na hun show legden Peter Pilotto en Christopher De Vos uit dat de sleutelfiguur deze keer de artiest Ken Price was, een keramieker.

Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos are the designers behind the PETER PILOTTO label. Pilotto is half-Austrian, half-Italian and De Vos is half-Belgian, half-Peruvian. They met whilst studying at Antwerp’s prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the year 2000.

Peter Pilotto en Christopher De Vos zijn de designers achter het PETER PILOTTO label.

Pilotto is half Australisch, half-Italiaans en De Vos is half-Belgisch en half-Peruviaans. Ze hebben elkaar ontmoet toen ze studeerden aan de prestigieuze Koninklijke Academie voor schone kunsten van Antwerpen in 2000. 

PETER PILOTTO’s vision of womenswear embraces both new and classic perspectives on elegance. Otherworldly prints combine with soft sculptural shapes to form the handwriting of the design duo, something which evolves and is explored each season as opposed to being reactionary.

PETER PILOTTO's visie op vrouwenkledij houdt zowel nieuwe als klassieke perspectieven rond elegantie in. Buitenaardse prints gecombineerd met zachte vormen, vormen de handtekening van dit design duo, iets wat evolueert en ieder seizoen wordt verkend als het tegenovergestelde van reactionair.

Pilotto is focused toward textiles and print whereas De Vos concentrates more on silhouette and drape. However, the duo work beyond their individual perimeters to create something new, their process being very organic and beyond an integration of the two fields.

Pilotto is gefocust op textiel en print, en De Vos concentreert zich meer op het silhouette en drapering. Maar toch werkt het duo buiten hun eigen perimeters om iets nieuw te creëren, hun proces is heel organisch en meer dan een integratie van deze twee velden.

PETER PILOTTO prefer to guard a little magic around their creations for the wearer’s own input. This is reinforced by the idea of the curiosity cabinet, which is something that holds stimulus for the duo. The curiosity cabinet is a metaphor for journey, their cultural mix and a collection of recurring things that enamour them, such as natural phenomena. The duo are particularly fascinated with a scientific view of nature, as reflected in the microscopic, encrusted, hyper-real prints of the collections.

PETER PILOTTO prefereert om een beetje magie rond hun collectie te behouden ter invulling van de drager's eigen input. Dit is versterkt door het idee van het kunst- en rariteitenkabinet, iets dat een echte stimulans is voor dit duo. Het kunst- en rariteitenkabinet is een metafoor voor reis, hun culturele mix en een collectie van terugkomende dingen dat hen kan bekoren, zoals natuurlijke fenomenen. Het duo is vooral gefascineerd door de wetenschappelijke visie van natuur, zoals je ziet in de microscopische, hyper-reële prints in hun collecties.

Their customer is unique in that she is beyond pure classification of age or style, just like the clothes themselves. She is instantly attracted to the clothes and will wear them with her own expression, whether she encounters their designs through a chance discovery or is a loyal follower.

Hun klant is uniek in dat zij meer is dan pure classificatie van leeftijd of stijl, net zoals de kleren zelf. Ze is meteen aangetrokken tot de kleren, en zal deze dragen met haar eigen expressie, of ze nu de designs ontmoet in een toevallige ontdekking of als ze een loyale volgeling is.

WHY STELLA MCCARTNEY AND I DON'T WEAR LEATHER - MOVIE

You probably have seen that all of my leather clothing is faux leather.

Many of you don't wear fur for obvious reasons, but don't get why I don't wear leather. 

(Actually I don't wear anything that comes from animals, so no wool, silk, angora,...)

That's why I decided to write a post so you can make an informed decision about wearing leather.

This season's absolute musthaves are the Stella McCartney's above. 

Stella McCartney never uses leather in any of her clothing or shoes. 

Why?

I actually do hope that when you're in the store next time and you see those leather booties, you think of the terrible story behind them and go for those cheaper and cruelty free non-leather booties.

Jullie hebben waarschijnlijk wel gemerkt dat al mijn leren kledij faux leer is.

Velen van jullie dragen geen bont, om de voor de hand liggende redenen, maar begrijpen niet waarom ik geen leer draag.

(Eigenlijk draag ik niets dat van diertjes komt, dus geen wol, zijde, angora,...)

Daarom besloot ik om een post hierover te schrijven zodat jullie een duidelijk geïnformeerd een eigen beslissing kunnen maken over het al dan niet dragen van leer.

De musthave van dit seizoen zijn de Stella McCartney's die je hierboven ziet.

Stella McCartney gebruikt nooit leer in haar collecties, niet in haar kledij en niet in haar schoenen.

Ik hoop eigenlijk dat wanneer jullie in de winkel staan de volgende keer, en je ziet die leren laarsjes, dat je dan denkt aan het vreselijke leed en verhaal hierachter en je kiest voor die goedkopere, en wreedheid vrije faux leren laarsjes.

STATEMENT NECKLACES

I've never been in love with an accessorie (actually, at all) like I'm in love with my new Zara necklace.

When I saw it hanging in the store I was so stunned, I had to have it. 

It looks just perfect, perfect composition, material, just everything about it.  Unfortunately I had no money with me. 

Thank God I have the best boyfriend who bought the necklace (the one I couldn't shut up about) for me as a gift the next day.

Lovely surprise.

Ik ben nog nooit zo verliefd op een accessoire geweest (eigenlijk ben ik dat nog nooit geweest) als op mijn nieuwe Zara ketting.

Toen ik hem zag hangen in de winkel was ik echt overdonderd, ik moest hem hebben! 

Hij is gewoon perfect, perfecte compositie, materiaal, simpelweg alles.

Jammer genoeg had ik geen geld bij me.

Gelukkig heb ik een super-liefje die de ketting (waar ik niet over kon zwijgen) de volgende dag cadeau gaf.

Geweldige verassing.

And as my rack for my statement necklaces is getting (way) too small, I thought I'd share them with you.

En omdat mijn hanger voor mijn statement kettingen (veel) te klein aan het worden is, wou ik mijn kettingen even met jullie delen.
