Rouge Coco Stylo and Le Vernis Longue Tenue - a brand-new Chanel chapter in color, from the lips to the fingertips!
I have always liked Chanel nail polishes. The only bad remark they often got was that they didn't last long. The new Chanel Le Vernis Longue Tenue is, as the name says, a long wearing version. It has a safer formula, styrene free and low in phenol, and promises improved color evenness and stability. Chanel reformulated the nail polish and there even is a gel coat available, which promises a 6-day hold. It not only improves the nail polish hold, but also adds shine.
What changed in the packaging is that names and numbers are now on the back. There are 14 colors available, 10 new shades and 4 reformulated shades (08 Pirate, 18 Rouge Noir/Vamp, 167 Ballerina, 505 Particulière). The shade I have is 500 Rouge Essentiel, a vibrant red. As always it covers perfectly in two coats.
The nail polish (or at least the one I have) lasts noticeable longer, I wore it for 2 days and only the tips wore off a bit. On day 3 it just wore off more at front. This was without the gel or any other topcoat. I sometimes pull off my nail polish (bad habit, I know) and the new formula it doesn't come off in bigger flakes, so I guess it doesn't chip (that easy) in big flakes, it only wears off.
I was very curious about the Rouge Coco Stylos. The packaging is very simple, just black with the writing in white. I might expected some gold or something - something that hints back to the lipsticks. It also isn't retractable, so be careful with twisting it out too much.
The Stylos have a hybrid formula: color, shine and lip care all in one. It combines the intensity and the shine of a gloss, with the melt-away texture and comfort of a balm. When I first swatched it, I was pretty amazed by the formula. It feels incredible soft and buttery on the lips, even moisturizing. (The Stylos also contain ingredients like apple-seed extract, plant oils,...) Yet the color is still so bright. These immediately reminded me about the YSL Rouge Volupté lipsticks, but those are not as soft.
There are 8 shades available, I have 212 Récit (a deep purple) and 214 Message (a brownish rosewood, even though it's quite red on me). Both so pretty and I know that Récit will become a handbag essentiel. The color is gorgeous and the formula is so nice to wear.
Chanel - Le Vernis Longue Tenue (€25)
Chanel - Rouge Coco Stylo in 212 Récit and 214 Message (€35)
The Rouge Coco Stylo is better as expected, it's so simple to use and I absolutely love the hybrid formula. But also the nail polish formula has changed a lot. If you weren't a fan before, maybe you should give the new formula a chance.
What do you think about these new Chanel releases?
Love, Rani
I love them, especially the Récit is really beautiful and it looks great on you. It's a really special color and finish. And your pictures are amazing!
