The last blogpost on the blog of 2015 is thé collaboration of the year for me. Urban Decay collaborated for the first time ever with someone, and not just anyone. We're talking Gwen Stefani, Harajuku queen of eyeliner and red, bold lips. I was super excited for this palette and I was over the moon when it landed on my desk!
Let's talk packaging first, how pretty is this palette? It's black, white and gold - classy and very Gwen. This palette fully represents Gwen Stefani. From the graphic design of the box, to the dotted front of the white and gold palette. Even the names of the eyeshadow are all chosen by Gwen from her own music. On the bottom right side of the mirror there is a quote written "Magic's In The Makeup", which is a song title of her. I really love the details, it's not just a quick collab and just placing the name of a celeb/YouTuber on some shades. There really went a lot of effort and thought in this palette, I'm impressed! The palette itself is very sturdy and pretty heavy.
There are 15 colors and 12 are completely new. Let's take a look!
The first row has nude, neutral shades.
Blonde is a pearlescent color, perfect to highlight.
Bathwater is more yellow, but has that same pearlescent glow.
Skimp is more matte than the two above (but not yet completely).
Steady is a classic Urban Decay color, great pigmentation and a pretty peach/bronze shimmer.
Punk is a completely matte dark brown shade.
Baby is super pigmented and it has a beautiful pink glow. I'm a sucker for metallic finishes, so you guessed it, it's one of my favorites.
Anaheim, Stark and Zone are basic matte colors. It's always handy to have these.
Serious is a matte dark grey color, but it has very tiny microshimmers too.
Row 3 is bold and bright, very different from the other colors!
Pop is a gorgeous silver/champagne color, but it's a bit chunky. It reminds me of pressed glitter eyeshadows.
Harajuku is a very bright pink shimmery shade.
Danger is a "jeans" color, one of my favorites. Original!
1987 has a metallic finish again, a mustard-gold one.
And the last: Blackout, an intense black matte eyeshadow.
Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette (€52)
I'm happy with the palette, the colors are pretty, pigmented and the palette is not really that expensive. The price of the palette is €52, which is about €3,45 for one color. A beautiful creation by Gwen Stefani that I really wanted and I'm happy to add this to the collection.
Oh, and there are little samples of Gwen Stefani lipsticks in the box. These are launching somewhere in the next months. I REALLY REALLY need Firebird and Rock Steady, those colors are exactly what I like to wear. (Well, personally I would want them all, because I'm the biggest lipstick addict and they all look so pretty.) What a teaser, I'm already curious about them!
This was the last blogpost of 2015, but of course I will be back with so much more in 2016. 2015 has been an amazing year. A year in which I got the chance to work with so many amazing people and brands. A year in which I tried to blog every day. A year in which I fully found my place and what I wanted to do in life. A year in which I started my own company and started fully living and pursuing my dreams. And I'm incredibly thankful. Thankful for everything, thankful for my boyfriend and parents who stand by me every single day and support every decision I make. (They are the best, literally the best.) But I'm also thankful for you guys. Thank you for stopping by every day, and thank you for all of the support.
Let's make 2016 even better than 2015! Happy New Year!
Love, Rani
This is one of the prettiest palettes I've seen yet, the packaging and the colors are so beautiful! Danger is definitely my favorite color of the palette. And I'm also thankful for the having the best girlfriend ever! It really was a great year and I'm pretty sure 2016 will be even better.
