PHILOSOPHY - PURITY

This has been a while, so time for a little skincare!

I was a bit scared to try this one out, because I read so many different reviews. You just love or hate this product it seems!

The products name is 'Purity made simple' and that's exactly its purpose. It's a 3-in-1 cleanser for face and eyes. Purity replaces your (eye) make-up remover, facial cleanser and toner. It cleanses your pores and hydrates the skin.
And this is why I find this product so handy, it removes your make-up (which you have to do almost every evening) and at the same time it cleanses your skin. The whole nightime ritual is so time consuming for many, and this could be the perfect answer.

The package looks lovely: it's minimalistic and simple. I do like a heavy decorated packaging, but this would not fit Philosophy. It's the perfect bottle for their uh well, philosophy!
There is a lot of writing on it, what does it say?

"philosophy: purity is natural. we come into this world with all the right instincts. we are innocent and, therefore, perceive things as they should be, rather than how they are. our conscience is clear, our hands are clean and the world at large is truly beautiful. it is at this time we feel most blessed. to begin feeling young again, we must begin with the most basic step of all, the daily ritual of cleansing."

Isn't that a great piece of writing? It almost makes me feel a little sad about growing up. Childhood is indeed one of our purest years.

On the backside there are the ingredients:
"water (aqua), sodium lauroamphoacetate, sodium trideceth sulfate, limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil, coco-glucoside, cocos nucifera (coconut) alcohol, peg-120 methyl glucose dioleate, aniba rosaeodora (rosewood) wood oil, geranium maculatum oil, guaiac (guaiacum officinale) extract, cymbopogon martini oil, rosa damascena extract, amyris balsamifera bark oil, santalum album (sandalwood) oil, salvia officinalis (sage) oil, cinnamomum cassia leaf oil, anthemis nobilis flower oil, daucus carota sativa (carrot) seed oil, piper nigrum (pepper) seed extract, polysorbate 20, glycerin, carbomer, triethanolamine, methylparaben, propylparaben, citric acid, imidazolidinyl urea, yellow 5 (ci 19140)"

And this was why I was a little scared before, there are some ingredients that some may find irritating like pepper for example. However I have a sensitive skin and I didn't found it irritating at all.

I put Purity to the test: liquid eyeshadow, lipliner, two matte lipsticks and mascara. I used a tiny bit without water on a cotton pad, and just wiped one stroke. Again, one stroke with a little bit of Purity without water. And this is the result: it wipes off everything so easily! Except for the lipliner, but when you add a little water and clean like you normally clean your face, it comes off immediately.

I was very impressed! Normally 3-in-1 products aren't that great (Shampoo and conditioner in 1? The horror!), but this one is.

It also feels really soft when I wash my face with it. Purity doesn't sting in the eyes and it doesn't leave a greasy feeling, like some cleansers tend to do. It also foams a tiny, tiny bit.
And it smells so different than other products: it has a lemony, natural, actually really good scent.

Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (available at Ici Paris XL)

So my overall impression is really good: it wipes your make-up off perfectly and it leaves a nice, clean feeling. I'm definitely ready to welcome more Philosophy products into my bathroom!

Have you ever tried something from Philosophy?

Love, Rani

  1. I think I've been using this stuff for about a year now and I can honestly say that nothing beats it. Not only can i use it for morning cleanses but because its slightly foaming and has the right consistency, I can easily use it with my exfoliating brush as I have been recently. I love how it has multiple uses, I usually take my makeup off before using it, but I know that it picks up anything I've missed, as well as many impurities gathered during the day and night. Loved the post Rani x

  6. I love Purity! I've been using it for the past few years. In the winter I add a slightly less harsh cleanser in the mornings because I find using it twice a day in the cold is too drying for my skin. Otherwise I love this stuff. Glad you were able to give it a try :)
